Guwahati, April 9: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam today to campaign for the first phase of Lok Sabha election.
According to party sources, he is scheduled to address a public meeting at Chukuli Bhoria in Lakhimpur constituency in the afternoon.
Shah will then take part in a road show in Tinsukia to campaign in support of Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is contesting from Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat.
“Union home minister Amit Shah will address a public rally in Lakhimpur, where he will campaign for Lakhimpur Lok Sabha candidate Pradhan Baruah. In the evening, the minister will participate in a mega road show in Tinsukia to campaign for Sarbananda Sonowal,” said a BJP source.
Shah had delayed his previous visit to Assam, which was originally scheduled for April 7 and 8, which caused the campaign timetable to be rearranged.
