Tura, Feb 8: Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills Jagdish Chelani on Thursday unveiled the plaque to mark the inauguration of the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at Tura Civil Hospital in presence of Sr Psychiatrist cum Nodal Officer, ATF Dr. Bollen Sangma.
The event was part of the virtual inauguration of 41 ATF across various Government Hospitals in the country by Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
ATF is part of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction, a comprehensive strategy aimed at preventive education, awareness generation, skill development, and livelihood support for individuals recovering from drug addiction.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bollen Sangma thanked the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for providing support and facilities to the ATF.
