Union MoS Baghel undertakes field visit, interacts with beneficiaries of central schemes

Shillong, Sept 30: Union Minister of State (MoS) for Law & Justice, SP Singh Baghel on Thursday undertook a field visit and interacted with the citizens who are either beneficiaries or recipients of various central schemes that includes corona vaccination centres, health insurances among others.He was accompanied by the officers of the line departments and agencies implementing the central schemes.

The Minister also obtained and assessed overall feedback from the beneficiaries of various schemes as well from the implementing officials.Singh visited the Health Dispensary at Rynjah, Shillong in the presence of officials, doctors, and nurses of the dispensary with regard to the Covid vaccination centers and the beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. There was no complaint whatsoever from the patients who are coming for treatment. Separate sections for treatment are being kept for level 1 Covid patients and level 2 patients in the dispensary.The Minister thereafter visited one of the beneficiaries of the MHIS (State Scheme), at R & R Colony (Rynjah) and had a brief interaction. Thereafter he visited the beneficiaries of Swachh Bharat Mission at Umpling, Shillong.

The Minister also visited the residences of the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme (PMUY) at Nongmensong, where he interacted with them.

He also visited the house of one of the beneficiaries under Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) Urban Meghalaya at Umpling.

During her interaction with the minister, the beneficiary expressed concern about the scheme as she had only received Rs 60,000.00 out of Rs 1,50,000.00.

She was very glad to be included in the scheme of PMAY and looked forward to receiving the remaining amount. Her total cost of building the house is Rs 7 lakh.

Waste Recovery Center

The Minister also visited Umpling Waste Recovery Center constructed by the Shillong Municipal Board under Swachh Bharat Mission and interacted with the beneficiaries of the project.

The Center is a localized waste processing center and is operated by the local youths who were earlier involved in collection and transportation of waste.

In the Waste Recovery Center, the biodegradable waste is converted into compost using indigenous methods and the recyclables are sorted and sold.

The Minister also interacted with the students of Martin Luther Christian University and Indian Institute of Public Service who are interns with the SMB at the Waste processing center.
