Shillong, Aug 15:  unknown miscreants set tyres ablaze and placed boulders on the middle of the road near Robert Hospital in Jaiaw.

As per information received, the incident occurred in the middle of Wednesday night.

However, the motive behind the act remains unclear. By the time police arrived in the morning, the tyres had already burned out, leaving only smoldering remnants. The police swiftly cleared the boulders and extinguished the remaining fires.

In response to the incident, security has been tightened in and around the area even though the situation remains calm.

Police has also tightened security in the city to prevent any further disturbances as Meghalaya celebrates the Independence Day along with the rest of the nation on Thursday.
