USTM felicitates 99 students for clearing NET/GATE/JRF 2020-2021

Shillong, April 8: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) felicitated 99 students who have qualified for the NET/GATE/JRF 2020-2021 at the University Central Auditorium at 9th Mile, Ri Bhoi on Friday. The 99 successful students were felicitated under the university’s ‘Pay-Back Policy’.

Dharma Kanta Mili, Director of Higher Education, Govt. of Assam graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Arpit Upadhyay, Deputy Commissioner, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya was the guest of honour. The main objective of this Award ceremony was to create competitiveness among the students.

To encourage the students to qualify NET, GATE, SLET, IAS, or any other top-level competitive examinations conducted by State & Central Govt., USTM has introduced the ‘Pay-Back Policy’ wherein students of the University who qualify these prestigious examinations shall get back their fees. Special Coaching & Guidance facilities are provided to the aspirants for various competitions.

Speaking on the occasion, Chancellor of USTM, Mahbubul Hoque, said that the university is giving such incentives to students so that students become more competitive and motivated. He also stated that USTM has initiated intensive coaching for competitive examinations under its “Vision50 Academy”.

Vice Chancellor of USTM, Prof G.D. Sharma, said the University is committed to its assurance that no brilliant student should be deprived of pursuing higher education only because of their financial incapability.
