Shillong, Sept 12: Veteran CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury passed away at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Thursday. He was 72 years old.
Yechury had been admitted at the ICU in AIIMS, Delhi for an acute respiratory tract infection. He had been admitted to the hospital on August 19.
He died at 3.05 pm, sources said.
The family of Sitaram Yechury have donated his body to AIIMS for research and teaching purposes.
