Shillong, June 3: Meghalaya government has decided to set up its own Veterinary University in Ri Bhoi district. Informing this on Thursday, Minister in-charge Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sanbor Shullai said, “We will be setting up a Veterinary University and construction site will be on a plot of land of the department at Kyrdemkulai.”
He said that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared and the total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 400 crore.
“The proposal will be placed in the cabinet for its approval once the Chief Minister is back from his touring programme,” Shullai said.
“I am trying my level best and once it is approved by the cabinet, we will go straight to Delhi to get the sanction,” he added. According to him, the university will be of great benefit to the students from the state.
