Must read

Shillong, Feb 25: The secretary of Mawsniang village which is under Sohiong block, Dabutstar Kharmyndai said that the village was denied ration rice and kerosene for three months alleging that the Block Development Officer (BDO) Budsuk Sungoh has delayed in giving the approval of the Fair Price Shop dealer.

Speaking in a press conference, he said that the over 400 residents of the village were deprived of getting the essential commodities from December 2020 till date.

He said that the BDO has not approved the name of the dealer who was selected by the residents in consultation with the dorbar shnong of Mawsniang.

Kharmyndai said that the village dorbar is unable to understand the delay in giving the approval by the official. He said, “An executive committee of the dorbar shnong was held on December 18, 2020 to discuss about the BDO’s act. The executive committee also confronted the BDO but he provided no explanation”.

He said that Sungoh put the blame on the former headman of the village alleging that he has asked the BDO to block the distribution of the commodities which was dismissed because the former headman is also a member of the executive committee of the village to demand the ration commodities.

Irked at the indifferent gesture of the BDO, the residents demanded that the BDO give his approval by the first week of March or face agitation to demand his removal.
