Shillong, June 1: Following a viral video which began circulating on social media on Tuesday evening wherein a traffic personal was almost run over by a pick-up truck and was manhandled by the handyman of the vehicle, police have arrested both the accused.

The incident occurred at Nongthymmai opposite Aprilia Showroom, Shillong, on May 31, 2022 at around 11.30 AM wherein one Super Carry pickup truck bearing Regn. No. MLOS-T-8200 violated the traffic regulation at Nongthymmai junction and caused obstruction.

In the viral video, the Home Guard Volunteer (HGV) Dustar Lyngkhoi deployed at Nongthymmai junction can be seen being manhandled and pushed along by a moving vehicle to move him out of the way.

In a statement on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police (City), East Khasi Hills, Vivek Syiem, informed that two people identified as Johnyrias Marboh of Upper Nongrah along with handyman named Augustin Marboh of Nongrah Umjapung have been arrested and will be forwarded to court.
