Tura, Mar 6: As a part of the “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye” campaign, put forth by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports with the objective to ensure universal enlightened participation of youth in election, an awareness program was held at the ICFAI university, Tura today organized by NSS (National Service Scheme) ICFAI unit.
The campaign was launched in the month of February this year, in Colleges/Universities and other Institutions of Higher Education to conduct outreach programmes to encourage youth to exercise their right to vote.
The main objective of this programme was to engage and encourage young, especially first-time voters to come out and vote, and to convey the importance of voting for the larger good of the nation.
The programme witnessed musical performances by the students of ICFAI, a talk on the importance of voting by Rachel A Sangma, HOD, Asst. Prof. Department of Political Science and followed by a pledge taking ceremony by Diki N Marak, Asst. Prof. Department of Commerce.
