SHILLONG, MAY 8: Opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Wednesday urged the state government to appoint IPS officer I Nongrang as the new DGP of Meghalaya.
VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh said in a statement, “the Officer is known for her professionalism, dedication and efficiency. It is not only a pride for the people of the state to have the police Chief from amongst the indigenous community of the state but will also bring better connection between the police force and the people due to her knowledge of the local conditions,”
“It would be a grave injustice to the state if the state government fails to appoint her as the new state’s DGP,” he said while stating that the Party will formally file a petition to the government.
