Jowai, Jan 26: Jowai joined with the rest of the Country on Wednesday to celebrate the 73rd Republic Day at Jrisalein Playground.
Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute to the tune of the National Anthem led by the local band and later addressed the gathering.
There was a tableau presentation from various government departments of the district projecting their schemes and achievements. There were altogether 11 tableaus displayed.
Deputy CM distributed Certificate of appreciation to all the participants in the cultural programme. Certificate of appreciation were also given to District heads participating in the Tableau display
Celebration at Amlarem Civil Sub-Division
The Republic Day was celebrated at Government LP School Playground, Amlarem. The National Flag was unfurled by Jowai MLA Wailadmiki Shylla. Cultural songs and dances were performed on the occasion day by the students.
Later, certificates of appreciation were distributed to all the participants. Special certificate was given to Nicholas Shylla for his own Rap in Amlarem village.
Celebrations at Shangpung
The Republic Day under Laskein C&RD Block was celebrated at Hima Shangpung at Hula Playground, Moosyiem, Shangpung. Local MLA Comingone Ymbon unfurled the National Flag.
Culture dance, song, skit were performed by VO of Shangpung Khliehmushut, VO Shangpung Pohshnong, Shangpung College and Shlem Sur Tynre, Shangpung.
There was also the handing over of the Land document for Solid Waste Disposal Site by Hula Mynshong Shangpung to the Synjuk ki Dorbar Shnong Shangpung.
