Tura, Oct 5: The District Sports Office, West Garo Hills, Tura, organised a District Level Youth Exchange Programme, 2023, with the theme “Building A Better World Partnering With Youth”, at the District Auditorium, Tura, today.
The event today started at 11 a.m. with a small inaugural function, which was graced by Winje G. Momin, ADC (MCS), West Garo Hills, Tura, as the chief guest. She gave a short speech and motivated the students to work hard and explore their career options. In his address to the students, the District Sports Officer, Saljagring M. Marak, encouraged them to engage in the events and also said that the best would be selected for the higher-level competitions.
Today’s programme took off with a quiz competition (elimination & final round) with its resource person/judge, Sanjib Das, Hawakhana Hr. Sec School, followed by extempore speech with its resource person/judges, Firdosh A Momin, Tura Govt. College, and Sanjib Das, Hawakhana Hr. Sec School; flute/guitar and art & painting competition with its resource person/judges, Titto D Sangma and Tengrang R Sangma.
In the programme, 7 schools and institutions participated, namely Govt. Boys High School, Tura Govt. College, Monfort Centre, Tura, Tura United Christian Academy, Don Bosco High School, Aeroville High School, and PASF Abong Noga College, with all the students mostly in classes 11 and onwards.
It is a two-day programme, respectively, on the 5th and 6th of October, where there will be various competitions and counselling sessions for the youths, and the winners in each variety of categories will be selected to represent the district and hence forth.
