Tura, Sept 11: The West Garo Hills Police on Monday busted an interconnected network of bike lifters and recovered several stolen motorcycles.
A stolen bike bearing registration no. ML08F 0369 has been stolen from Babagre, and a case in this regard was filed on a complaint lodged with West Garo Hills, Gambegre police station.
Based on sources of information, they laid a trap and arrested one person, Srangbirth N. Sangma, from Raja Apal Kamagittim. He has been identified as the son of Trawin Sangma, while the stolen bike was recovered from the same place.
A bike-stealing gang is suspected to be operating in the area, and further investigations are underway to apprehend other members of the gang. The police suspect that the gang may be involved in several other bike theft cases in the region.
