Guwahati, Sept 19: “When the cow is sad then there is a crisis on the Earth. When the cow suffers, the earth is in trouble.” This is the argument of Shankaracharya Govardhan Peeth, Swami Adhokshajanand Devtirtha, who is also advocating for nation-wide ban on cow slaughter.
Appealing that cow slaughter should be banned across the country, Swami Adhokshjanand Devtirth, who is in Guwahati for a religious congregation, on Thursday said, “When the cow is sad then there is a crisis on the earth. When the cow suffers, the earth is in trouble. That is why God has come to protect the cow. It is also important for a state to protect the cows and respect them by the ruling government of the state.”
The prominent Hindu monk also lauded the efforts of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for being able to stop cow smuggling to Bangladesh from Assam.
“I sincerely thank the Chief Minister of Assam for stopping cow smuggling in a very short time after coming to power, because earlier cows from Assam were smuggled to Bangladesh. Now it’s stopped going,” he said.
Swami Adhokshjanand Devtirth who attended a religious congregation at Shree Shree Rudra Mahayogya and Kameswari Maha Aaradhana in Guwahati also said that people in Assam are now rearing cows and this trend is increasing.
“Ministers and legislators of Assam are also running gaushalas. The devotion and loyalty to the cow has been increasing,” he added.
