Who will be Odisha’s next CM? names of new CM circulating

Guwahati, June 6: After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a thumping victory in Odisha after a decade to form a government, the names for the new chief minister began circulating in the state.

The regional outfit Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has been ruling the state for last several years but the BJP this time has broke the fortress and captured the state with absolute majority.

In the 147-member Odisha Assembly, the BJP secured 78 seats, while the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) got 51 seats. The Congress improved its tally from nine seats in 2019 to 14 this year.

Among newly elected MLAs, Mohan Charan Majhi, a three-time MLA from Keonjhar, who was chief whip of the BJP legislative party and also a tribal face, could be considered for the post. Former State BJP president K.V. Singhdow and Suresh Pujari, who have been elected in the Assembly poll are also in the race.

The BJD has faced incumbency factor after ruling the state for 24 years under party’s main face Naveen Patnaik. Naveen Patnaik have lost the Odisha after ruling the state for almost a decade.
