Following which, the forest team reached their village and patrolled the area, and they left. After that, the wild elephant attacked the villagers, and when everyone ran, Anil Rabha was attacked by the elephant and died on the spot.

It is to be mentioned that the incident site area is some 10 kilometres away from the West Kamrup Forest Division office.

On the other hand, another man, Kamaleswar Boro, was killed by a wild elephant attack at Borkhal village last Sunday night. Villagers of the Nam Santipur and Borkhal villages assume that the same wild elephant killed them.

The people of both villages are terrified of the lone wild elephant who terrorises the area. Now people in the area have urged the Forest Department to take action against the elephant so that people in the area can sleep at night.

DFO Kamrup West Division Dimpy Bora said that they are discussing the matter with WWF officials and other officials, and very soon they will find a solution for this matter.

“People in the area requested to tranquillize the elephant, but this is not a good solution because sometimes, due to the tranquilization, the elephant has lost their lives,” added DFO Dimpy Bora.

On the other hand, two wild elephant calves lost their lives within 3 months in the Hahim area of the West Kamrup Forest Division area along the Assam-Meghalaya border.
