‘Will remain with Congress… I am not very cheap’: Pala

Must read

Shillong, June 21: Congress chief and Shillong MP Vincent H Pala on Wednesday said he will remain with the Congress and there is no question for him to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from other political parties.

“Many people tried to convince me, many people tried to woo me but I am not very cheap. I started off as a simple layman, I cannot just get carried away by a party. I will remain with the Congress and I will always remain with the Congress only, provided that the Congress will not throw me out. That is a different issue but there is no question of me contesting from other political parties,” Pala told reporters.

The Shillong MP was reacting to the allegation made by former chief minister and AITC leader Dr. Mukul Sangma that he is going to seek re-election on an NPP ticket.

When asked, Pala said he was approached by the party workers of the BJP, NPP and others to contest from their respective parties.

“However, I always remain a simple man. I don’t mind whether I lose or I win the election but I should not surrender my rights, I should not surrender my values, I should not surrender whatever that the Congress has given me. So, no question (of me contesting) from the NPP, from any parties. I will be with the Congress and contest from the Congress and all of you should support so that I win back (from Shillong parliamentary seat),” he added.
