Williamnagar, Jan 26: As the nation commemorated Republic Day on January 26, 2025, Meghalaya joined the celebrations with fervor across all its districts. In Williamnagar, the headquarters of East Garo Hills District, a vibrant Republic Day event unfolded at the Rongrenggre Government Higher Secondary School playground.

The occasion was graced by Abu Taher Mondal, Meghalaya’s Minister for Power, Community & Rural Development, and Taxation Departments, who hoisted the National Flag. He was accompanied by East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Agarwal and Superintendent of Police Stephen A. Rinjah.

In his address, Minister Mondal highlighted the government’s achievements, including completed and ongoing development projects. As the state’s Power Minister, he emphasized the strides made in stabilizing Meghalaya’s power supply. He proudly noted that 2024 saw no scheduled load shedding due to improvements spearheaded by the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) over the last five years. He assured the public of continued progress, stating that 2025 is also expected to remain load-shedding-free.
