Williamnagar police file chargesheet against molester CRPF jawan

Tura, May 10: A charge sheet by East Garo Hills police has been filed against a CRPF jawan who molested a woman in a tea stall outside of Williamnagar, last month.

East Garo Hills district police announced on Monday that the case has been chargesheeted at Williamnagar Session Court and the accused Jawan has also been suspended by the CRPF authority for leaving his post during duty.

The incident is of April 2nd morning, this year, in which the accused jawan who was on night duty at Baija junction to Williamnagar strolled away from his post of duty towards the Songsak road side without any permission.

He entered a tea shop where a young mother was preparing tea to sell in the morning and molested her. She managed to fight back his attempts and shouted for help which was heard by other people passing through the road very early in the morning. They rushed to her help and the jawan was apprehended.

While the investigation was underway, recently, a viral video on facebook surfaced that blamed the OC of Williamnagar Woman Police Station of inducing the victim to drop the case.

The Superintendent of Police of East Garo Hills enquired into the matter and reviewed the case under investigation and found that all necessary actions have been taken by the investigating officer and investigation have been completed, stated the district police.

The Investigating Officer was also directed to charge sheet the case without delay by the SP which led to the latest development in court on Monday.
