Winners of National Meteorological Olympiad 2024 announced for Meghalaya

Shillong, Dec 19: The state-level rank list for the National Meteorological Olympiad 2024 has been released for Class VIII, IX, and XI students from Meghalaya. Organized to mark the 150th anniversary of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Olympiad was conducted nationwide in an online format on December 14-15, 2024.

For Class VIII, the winners are: Grace Lamnunnem (registration no. 2345), 1st position; Itishree Ray (registration no. 5890), 2nd position; Sarah T Lhouvum (registration no. 2385), 3rd position.

For Class IX, the winners are: Venitia Kharir (registration no. 10448), 1st position; Edrick K Mawrie (registration no. 10514), 2nd position; Phinsabet Suting (registration no. 2646), 3rd position.

For Class XI, the winners are: Simon Lyngdoh Nongbri (registration no. 10249), 1st position; Bakmenskhem Nongrum (registration no. 9725), 2nd position; Laseibaniar Kharmalki (registration no. 9301), 3rd position.

All participants will receive certificates of participation, available for download from the official Olympiad website. Top-performing students in each class will also receive awards, prizes, and certificates as part of the recognition for their achievements.

The top three winners from each class across Meghalaya are invited to New Delhi to participate in a one-day workshop on January 13, 2025, and the 150th Foundation Day celebrations of IMD on January 14, 2025. Travel and accommodation, including 3AC train travel for the shortest route and lodging, will be covered by the organizers. The accompanying teacher or guardian of each student will also have their expenses covered.

Top three state-level winners from each class will attend a contest to select national-level winners for that class on January 13, 2025 in New Delhi.
