Shillong, Aug 30: Schoolgirls and women tied Rakhi to the soldiers and paramilitary forces deployed along the India – Bangladesh international border in Meghalaya, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
In a program organized in BSF camp to celebrate the festival, local women’s organizations and school and college students tied Rakhi on the wrists of soldiers of the BSF.
A similar program was organized at the sector headquarters of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) located in Polo, Shillong, where State BJP Mahila Morcha and girls tied rakhi on the wrist of officers and jawans and applied tilak on their forehead and also prayed for their long life.
