Tura, Sep 7: A one-day workshop on “Awareness on Opportunities in Entrepreneurship and Start-ups” was held at the Department of Management, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, on Wednesday (September 6).
Jagdish Chelani, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills District, Tura, attended the event as the Chief Guest and emphasised the need for such an awareness programme to motivate the youth to inculcate the entrepreneurial mindset.
In his speech, Chelani highlighted various schemes and opportunities laid down by the government of Meghalaya that must be availed of by the youth for building an entrepreneurial career.
The workshop director, Prof. Abhigyan Bhattacharjee, said earlier in his address that the workshop had the motive to guide students on their entrepreneurial journey and to provide an insight into the processes and funding for the start-ups.
Tridha Ch. Sangma, Programme Associate, PRIME start-up Hub Tura, attended the workshop as the resource person.
Two start-up entrepreneurs from Tura, Rudy D. Marak from the start-up Mini Bazaar and Samanda Marak from the start-up Cherri, were the invited speakers.
The workshop was largely attended by the students of various departments at the NEHU Tura Campus.
The workshop was organised by the Entrepreneurship Promotion Development Programme Incubators, NEHU, Tura, in association with the Placement and Counselling Cell and the Department of Management, NEHU, Tura Campus, with support and mentorship from PRIME, Meghalaya.
