Shillong, Mar 27: The Department of Education, in collaboration with Martin Luther Christian University’s organized a workshop on Developing Teaching and Learning Materials to Address Learning Deficiencies in Reading and Numeracy Skills among school-aged children 5-16. The workshop emphasized on creating low-cost teaching materials for addressing reading and numeracy deficiencies. The workshop also provided hands-on experience for 2nd and 4th Semester students of the Department of Education.
The program also shared insights of ASER Survey Report 2023, the report focused on identifying areas of deficiencies that need improvement and guiding educational strategies. The Dean of the School of Social Work and the Head of the Sociology Department shared their views and ideas on the importance of collaborating with ASER. Student perspectives from those involved in the survey offered valuable insights into the importance of collaboration which enabled them to gain more knowledge about the research work.
Vice Chancellor Prof. T.K. Kharbamon also commended ASER and the students for their comprehensive survey highlighting student challenges in East Khasi Hills Districts. Certificates were also awarded to students who participated in the survey, with ASER representatives facilitating the distribution ceremony.
Dr. Bamonlang M Dkhar, offered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all participants, collaborators, and stakeholders for their dedication to improving educational outcomes for school-aged children.
