World Day against Human Trafficking observed in WJH

Jowai, August 07: Commemorating the World Day against Human Trafficking, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights(NCPRC) organized a one day District Level Sensitization Programme on “Combating Child trafficking” along with the West Jaintia Hills District Administration and The State Commission for protection of Child Rights (SCPCRs) in DC’s office on Saturday.

MSCPCR chairperson Lamon M Syiem explained the several factors that contribute to child trafficking and the need to be vigilant about the problem of child trafficking. The main objective of the campaign is to sensitize the key stakeholders on basic indicators to identify children at risk, vulnerable children and prevention for combating child trafficking in bordering districts of the country.

NCPCR senior technical expert, Smt. Shaista K Shah presented a presentation on protection of Rights of a child, prevention and combating, strategy to prevent child trafficking in the country.

Superintendent of Police Bikram Marak also said that the District Police are taking all measures to prevent Child trafficking.

The Child Welfare Committee, Police Officers and staffs from the District Child Protection unit attended the program.
