Tripura, Dec 7: Wriddhiman Saha India’s one of the best wicketkeeper is now busy in mentoring Tripura cricket team for the Ranji Trophy.
Last year, veteran wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha joined the Tripura team as a coach cum player.
Saha was dumped from the Indian Test squad ahead of the two-match series at home to Sri Lanka, the wicketkeeper-batter also had his commitment questioned by an official back home at the Cricket Association of Bengal after he pulled out of the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy citing personal reasons.
Saha’s final Test match was against New Zealand in December 2021.
He’s played in the IPL recently in addition to Test cricket. He opened the batting for the champions Gujarat Titans.
Moreover, he did quite well for the reigning IPL champs.
Saha hasn’t played a Test since then, with K.S. Bharat and now Ishan Kishan leap-frogging him in the race to be the second-choice after Rishabh Pant.
The tiff with Bengal wasn’t resolved and that led to him severing ties with a state for whom he had played all career, including 52 times in the Ranji Trophy.
Saha made his debut against Hyderabad in 2007, the Siliguri-born Saha has featured in 122 first-class and 102 List A games.
The diminutive wicket keeper has 92 catches and 12 stumpings besides 1,353 runs including three centuries in 40 Test matches at an average of 29.41. In first class matches he has 313 catches and 37 stumpings besides scoring 6,423 runs at an average of 41.98 runs per match.
He has amassed 6423 runs with a 41.98 average. He has already struck 13 centuries and 38 half-centuries.
