Dibrugarh, Mar 10: Dibrugarh University held its XXII Convocation on Sunday. A total of 10,765 graduated this year out of which there were 87 Ph. D degrees were awarded. 37 students were recipients of gold medals and 33 post-graduates were awarded degrees.
One student was conferred with Dr. Junali Kropi Memorial Award for securing the highest marks in the Department of Anthropology.
The D. Sc Honoris Causa was conferred upon Shri Kshiradhar Barua and the D. Litt Honoris Causa was conferred upon Nawab Imran Shah.
The Chief Guest for the convocation was Professor Sudhir Kumar Barai, Director, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani attended the Convocation.
Assam Governor and Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Gulab Chand Kataria addressing the gathering emphasised on inter-disciplinary education as mandated by NEP 2020 and expected that Dibrugarh University will devise curriculums that would enable such a process.
The Chancellor also believed that the graduating students would become responsible citizens and work towards nation-building.
The convocation was attended by around 1500 attendees, which included Vice-Chancellors from other state universities, the Deputy Commissioner, alumni, faculty members, administrative staff, members of the fourth estate, and graduating students.
