Tura, April 24: Having received credible source information, two days ago, about suspected contraband substances being transported by drug mafia in the Garobadha area, West Garo Hills police conducted a special raid leading to arrest of two criminals and seizure of 20,000 highly intoxicant Yaba tablets.
“The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO (Sadar), Tura involving personnel from Garobadha Investigation Centre and the team achieved success with arrests and confiscation of the contraband,” told West Garo Hills SP Dr MGR Kumar to Hub News.
He disclosed that the police teams gave hot pursuit and managed to two persons in Oiduba (Joyfar trijunction) at around 5:30 pm on Thursday.
Around 20,000 suspected yaba tablets weighing 2.028 kgs had been seized from the possession of the two accused persons and investigation has been launched.
The SP also said that further efforts are on to nab the remaining gang members of the interstate contraband smugglers gang.
