Youth thrashed in a moral policing case in Assam

Guwahati, Aug 16: A young boy and a girl were thrashed by a mob in Assam’s Cachar district on Thursday during Independence Day celebrations in a moral policing case.

The incident took place at the Shildupi area under Sonai police station in Cachar district.

The viral video shows the mob thrashing the young boy and a girl in what looks to be a love-jihad case.

The victim has been identified as Ali Ahmed Chowdhury of the Shildupi area of Cachar.

The youth was tied to rope in an electric post, and later, the mob thrashed him in connection with love-jihad.

Moral policing cases have been growing in Assam, and many people have faced the wrath of moral policing.

No arrests have been made so far by police.

“We are investigating the case, but so far, no arrests have been made. We will book the culprits who are involved in moral policing,” said a police source .
