Guwahati, Mar 28: In a significant crackdown on policy violations, YouTube has removed more than 2.25 million videos in India in 2023 and 9 million videos have been removed globally across various regions.
The enforcement actions were not limited to video removals alone. YouTube terminated over 20 million channels worldwide for spam violations and deleted a massive 1.1 billion comments worldwide.
According to the Google Transparency Report, the majority of these removals were due to violations of community guidelines, particularly spam and adult sexual content.
This figure of removal places India at the lead of video takedowns, surpassing countries like the United States of America and Russia.
