Healthcare in the backdrop of Covid 19 pandemic has become a crucial sector and lack of such high end ambulances is a major setback for the state.
There is no Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance in Garo Hills region.
At present, in Meghalaya, there are four ALS ambulances of which one is at the stepdown COVID hospital at Umsawli, one in Shella, one in Laitkynsew, and one at NEIGRIHMS.
The ALS Ambulance is fully equipped to handle patients needing life support. It is equipped with tools and equipment similar to a hospital emergency department or critical care unit. ALS ambulances carry critical care equipment including an ECG monitor, defibrillator, intravenous and blood draw tools etc.
