Ampati, April 14: Office of the District Sports Officer, South West Garo Hills organised Chief Minister’s District Level under 12 Football Tournament for both boys and girls at Students’ Field, Ampati on Friday.

The one- day football tournament was attended by AVD Shira, Deputy Commissioner in-charge of South West Garo Hills, as the Chief Guest, who also felicitated the winners of the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion at the award ceremony, Shira encouraged the young boys and girls to give equal attention to both sports and studies, and excel in both the fields.
Under Girls’ category, the girls’ team of the newly inaugurated Block of South West Garo Hills, Purakhasia, defeated Betasing Block Girls’ team by a score of 1-0 and emerged as champions.

Under Boys category, Zikzak Block Boys’ team emerged as champions by defeating Ampati Block Boys’ team, 3-0.

Purakhasia Block’s Bemanberik Marak was awarded the best player among the Girls’ category and among the Boys, Bilcham T Sangma of Zikzak Block was awarded the best player.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, PK Sangma and Dr Mikrak Sangma, Medical and Health Officer, were among the other Officers who attended this spectacular Sports event.
