Shillong, Dec 21: The Sneh Society will host the 1st North East Sustainable Fashion Show 2023, a platform for various artists where there are no age barriers, introducing plus size models, no height criteria and gender equality for all and also to promote the local youth, talent, local fabrics and indigenous music.
The audition for the show is scheduled on December 29 at Youth Hostel Shillong.
Speaking to media persons, 2017 Miss Teen, Preeti Thapa, informed that the North East Sustainable Fashion Show 2023 is an upcoming social fashion event that shall engage the youth of the state in various social purposes through fashion and entertainment.
Thapa said that the objective of the NE Sustainable Fashion Show 2023 is to create a platform for the various artists where there are no age barriers, introducing plus size models, no height criteria and gender equality for all and also to promote the local youth, talent, local fabrics, indigenous music and promoting methods to save the environment.
“For the very first time through the NE Sustainable Fashion Show 2023 we are trying to create a platform or stage for the recognition of the real life heroes who not only have selflessly contributed to the society but also has inspired the generation and the main highlight of the fashion show is for the real life heroes from our society who will be the showstopper and share their story,” she said.
She further shared that the idea of sustainable fashion is to inspire others to take initiatives in saving the environment and also to promote local sustainable fabrics and help in spreading the information on environmental friendliness of sustainable products among the youths.
She added that in the NE Sustainable Fashion Show 2023, participants will also be educated on the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) especially when it comes to awareness, engagement, participation, enrolment and the voting rights among the youths of the state.
“We are giving awareness of SVEEP because during our discussion with the enrollment team in Meghalaya we came to know that when it comes to urban places the enrollment number is really less when compared to rural areas,” she said.
Meanwhile, Sweety Pala said the North East Sustainable Fashion Show 2023 will help to promote local talents as earlier celebrities from outside the state or country were called for any event in the state.
She asserted that local talents are being ignored so this upcoming event aims to focus local talents in order to explore the talents of all youths, children and every one of the state. “So, this NE Sustainable Fashion Show 2023, it is an upcoming social fashion event that shall engage the youth of the state in various social purposes through fashion and event and entertainment,” she said.
Pala added that in the upcoming Fashion Show the Sneh Society will engage the youths when it comes to fashion and entertainment as there is a stigma when it comes to the fashion industry, so the society aims to change that stigma through messages through fashion and entertainment.
