Tura, June 6: The Superintendent of Tura Civil Hospital, Dr. I.C. Marak, informed that the successful operation was conducted to remove a giant salivary gland neck tumor weighing 2.8 kg. The medical term for the tumor is Giant Right Pleomorphic Adenoma.
The complex surgery was performed by Dr. Lee Roger Ch Marak, MS, MCh (Paediatric Surgery), and Dr. Stevie Jaseng N Sangma, MD (Anaesthesiology). The surgical team was assisted by Dr. Crejithson R Marak, Dr. Binsena R Marak, Sister Drinchira M Marak, and other supporting OT staff.
The patient, was a man in his mid-20s from Tikrikilla, who had been suffering from a massive neck swelling on the right side for the past four years. Following the successful operation, the patient has been discharged from the hospital and is on the road to recovery.
