2 drug peddlers caught with heroin in Jowai

Jowai, Sept 19: Two suspected drug peddlers were arrested near Thomas Jones College in Jowai in West Jaintia Hills district and 5.1 grams of heroin and Rs. 31,730 cash was seized from their possession on Wednesday night.

The accused have been identified as Sdangki Myrphet (35), son of Scientist Rymbai, and Wandao Bareh (42), son of Delingson Nonghuloo, both residents of Panaliar.

According to the police, the two were observed moving suspiciously near the college during routine police patrolling at around 7:30 pm on Wednesday.

Upon being questioned by the Jowai Police team, it was suspected that the duo was involved in the illegal sale of contraband substances. A subsequent search revealed 5.1 grams of heroin, along with Rs. 31,730 in cash in their possession.

The two were taken to Jowai Police station for further investigation.
