Tura, July 10: A special operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force of West Garo Hills police on Sunday morning has netted two drug peddlers from Tura bazar. One of the accused is from Tura and the other from Williamnagar town.
The two drug peddlers, Cherak R. Marak of Gongadamal locality in Tura and and Tengsuang S. Sangma hailing from Balsri Ading locality of Williamnagar were in a maruti alto car (ML08 G 6541) when they were intercepted by a team of the special task force in the market area of Tura.
On being frisked police recovered from their possession 8.19 grams of Heroin and Rs 14,230/- besides 2 mobile phones and other incriminating materials.
During interrogation the accused revealed that the contraband was sent to them by one Bryan Nongmor, S/o Ostinoris Nongmor, R/o Laitkor Rngi, Sohiong, East Khasi Hills.
Accordingly, the information was shared with East Khasi Hills Police and in a subsequent house- search, Anti-Narcotics Task Force, East Khasi Hills recovered approximately 4.43 grams Heroin, 1 no. mobile phone and other incriminating materials.
