Nongpoh, May 26: In a tragic incident, two people were reported died while one teenage girl received severe injuries after they were beaten by sharp bamboo on Monday at Sabuda village under Raid Nongtung, Ri Bhoi District.

According to sources, the victims were beaten and thrashed allegedly by one Sheltiroy Mukhim, who is allegedly mentally unstable and is also said to be the relatives of these victims.

In the incident one Dribon Mukhim (47) died on the spot and Rilan Mukhim (49) died on reaching NEIGHRIMS hospital and the teenage girl is admitted in Shillong hospital for treatment.

On getting the information, Mawlasnai police outpost personnel rushed to the spot and apprehended the accused after he was detained by his own relatives.

To make the matters worse, the police personnel tried to register the case in Assam and also wanted the post-mortem of the deceased to be done Assam.

However, the matter was resolved soon, after the Border Magistrate of Ri Bhoi District took the initiative to discuss the matter, and later the dead body was taken to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for post mortem and also the case is now registered at Mawlasnai Police Outpost. Also, the accused was taken to Civil Hospital by Police for further treatment and investigation.
