Guwahati, Nov 18: Twenty-two children were hospitalized after falling ill at a post-wedding reception in Hudukhata village, Barpeta district, on Sunday.

The children who exhibited severe vomiting symptoms were admitted to Salbari Model Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention. The event was hosted by Lakheswar Deka to celebrate his daughter’s wedding, traditionally known as Tuloni Biya.

Salbari police have launched an investigation into the incident to identify the cause of the illness.

This follows another food poisoning incident last month in Golaghat district, where around 200 people fell sick after consuming snacks at an obituary function in Pasghoria village, Sarupathar area.
