Shillong, Nov 24: The second edition of the Tri Hills Ensemble, which displays the wonderful, vibrant culture of Meghalaya, was inaugurated on Friday by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong.
The festival is also a part of the Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas and will be held on Saturday as well. It aims to showcase the rich tribal heritage, unique crafts, cuisine, and culture, giving the visitors a memorable experience through music, food and dance.
The inaugural ceremony of the festival displayed various cultural performances, including dances that have never made it to public platforms.
Tri Hills symbolize the three hills of Khasis, Jaintias, and Garos and are also rooted in the word. Rooted in nature and connected to culture, the festival aims to bring the uniqueness of the three tribes of the state onto a single platform for the visitors to immerse themselves in the rich and vibrant culture of the state and also serve as a bridge between the past and the modern generation.
The festival also has various stalls set up to showcase indigenous foods, local rice beers, and indigenous crafts of the three major tribes of the state.
