Army Public School Shillong releases first-of-its-kind book celebrating Meghalaya’s charm

Must read

Shillong, April 26: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, a book titled, “Meghalaya Through the Prism of the Youth,” which celebrates the breathtaking charm of Meghalaya, was officially released at a special ceremony held at Army Public School Shillong on Friday.

The book stands out not only for its rich content but for the unique collaboration behind its creation —by students, Army officers and their families, and teachers of the school – making it the first literary project of its kind ever undertaken in any school. The book was released by Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh.

In his address, Lyngdoh applauded the creative synergy behind the project and emphasized its value as a symbol of unity, learning, and exploration.

Conceptualised by Brigadier Sandeep Dhupar, Chairman of Army Public School Shillong, the book explores the serene landscapes of Meghalaya and brings to light the lesser-known destinations that lie beyond the tourist trail.

“Meghalaya Through the Prism of the Youth” takes readers on an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking landscapes, diverse cultures, and rich biodiversity of the state.

Featuring a blend of rich accounts, reflective essays, travel chronicles, and stunning photographs, the book showcases a vivid picture of Meghalaya’s magnificence from multiple perspectives.

This book is not just a collection of words or descriptions- it is a celebration of learning beyond the classroom and is a compilation primarily by students of APS Shillong, based on their field trips. This book stands as a testament to what education truly achieves when it is rooted in experience. Through this initiative, the students have not only learnt biology, geography, history or sociology lessons, but also values – respect for culture, the importance and sustainability and the joy of discovery. The efforts of APS Shillong and the spirit behind the creation of the book need to be emulated by one and all.
