Imphal, July 14: The National People’s Party (NPP), Manipur unit, on Tuesday issued a clarification distancing itself from Kamang Lhouvum, following social media posts linking him to the recent Kanto Sabal incident.
In a statement, the party said Lhouvum had contested the 2022 Manipur Assembly election from Saitu constituency on an NPP ticket but was unsuccessful and has not been an active member of the party since the conclusion of the 2022 polls.

The NPP further clarified that Lhouvum is currently not associated with the party in any capacity, and termed attempts to link him with the party in connection with the recent incident as “misleading” and not reflective of its position.
The party urged the public and media to verify facts before drawing conclusions or making political associations.
The clarification comes amid social media speculation following the Kanto Sabal incident, which has drawn widespread attention in Manipur.
