Tura, Dec 10:In a major break through police from East Garo Hills police district, particularly security forces from Songsak police station and Dagal Ogc apprehended three dacoits from Songkama village.
The dacoits, comprising of five anti social elements, had on Friday evening at 6 PM waylaid non tribal travellers at Songkama road and snatch their belongings and cash.
Police team on receiving reports of the robbery immediately launched operations and apprehended three persons, namely Nengman G Momin, Sengkush G Momin, Bulbirt B Momin, belonging to Gabil Bisa village under Rongmil outpost, for their involvement in the robbery.
Two other gang members managed to flee from the scene taking advantage of the terrain and darkness.
According to police, a few days back some travellers were also looted in the same manner in the same area of the road and it is highly suspected that this was done by the same gang involved in Friday’s robbery. The arrested suspects have been brought to Songsak police station for further investigation.
