Shillong, Feb 4: A total of 30 candidates filed their nomination papers on Saturday at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills. Saturday was the fifth day for the filing of nominations for the upcoming Meghalaya Assembly polls.





8 from the National People’s Party (NPP) – Deputy CM and NPP national vice president Prestone Tyngsong from Pynursla constituency along with Ransom Sutnga from North Shillong, Alvin K Sawkmie from Mawsynram, Teibor Pathaw from Mawlai, Samlin Malngiang from Sohiong, Kansing Lynshing from Mawryngkneng Constituency and Kennedy C. Khyriem from Mawphlang.

While Shella’s NPP candidate Grace Kharpuri filed her nomination papers at the Civil Sub Division, Sohra.

5 candidates from the Trinamool Congress filed their nominations – Elgiva G Rynjah from North Shillong, Gilbert Laloo from Mylliem, Dondor Marbaniang from Mawkynrew, Stepbourne Kupar Ryndem from Mawlai and Vincent T. Sangma from Mawsynram.

4 candidates from the Indian National Congress-, Banidashisha Kharkongor from Nongthymmai, While Welborn Bynnud from Shella and Lakyntiew Sohkhlet from Sohra filed at Civil Subdivision Office, Sohra.

10 from the newly floated Voice of the People Party (VPP) also filed their nominations – Ardent M Basaiawmoit from Nongkrem, Bright starwell Marbaiang from Mawlai, Heavingstone Kharpran from Mawryngkneng, Avner Pariat from East Shillong, Danny Langstich (VPP) from South Shillong, Manbhalang Thabah from Pynursla, Winstone Tony Lyngdoh from Nongthymmai, Doristar Marbaniang from Mawphlang, Edelbert Nongrum from North Shillong and Raja Jyrwa from West Shillong Constituency.


2 candidates from the United Democratic Party (UDP) – P.T. Sawkmie from Mawlai and Mawphlang’s Beyonderstar Kurbah, also filed their nominations.
Veteran politician and Hills State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) MDC from Mawryngkneng, Martle N Mukhim, also filed his nomination papers on Saturday.
