4 Meghalaya Muaythai athletes to participate in IFMA World Championship in Thailand

Shillong, April 12: The Muay Thai Association of Meghalaya (MTAM) on Wednesday announced that four of its athletes will be participating in the Senior Men and Women IFMA World Championship, which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 4-13, 2023.

Lapynshai Syiemlieh (48kg), Pynnehbor Mylliemngap (48kg), Edilbert Ryndongsngi (85kg), and Skhemborlang Marwein (51kg) are the athletes who will compete in the championship. They will be accompanied by two coaches – Angelus Sun and Pynsuklang Sumer.

MTAM had participated in the United Muaythai Association India, IFMA World Championship Muay Thai at Abu Dhabi, UAE from May to June, 2022. Local athletes Pynnehbor Mylliemngap won the bronze medal in the Senior Elite 48Kg category and 23-year-old Blaseibok Kharbuli won bronze media in 48Kg category.

In the IFMA Muaythai Youth world championship held at Malaysia in August 2022, two athletes, Mary Christin Wriang who fought Under 14-15-year 38kg category won the silver medal and Alphonsia Zinia Wriang under 13-14-year 36 kg category by won bronze medal.
