Tura, Jan 17: The third day of the 5th Meghalaya Games unfolded with thrilling competitions at the Tura Track and Field, Dakopgre, where Retina Hanse from Ribhoi district and Kyrshanlang Shylla from West Jaintia Hills district secured the titles of fastest athletes in the men and women categories during the final round of the 400m race.

In the fiercely contested men’s category, Sprinter Kyrshanlang Shylla of West Jaintia Hills (WJH) emerged victorious, fending off a stiff challenge from Shillong’s Donbok Shabong, who secured the second position.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Damika R Lyngdoh from West Jaintia Hills showcased a commendable performance against Retina Hanse, earning the silver medal.

In the women’s category, participants representing their respective districts included Seinibiangki Suiam from West Jaintia Hills, Iaishah Biangbor Sohiong from Shillong, Rosa Maslai from Ri Bhoi, Albamery Sohshang and Monjoypful Dkhar from Nongstoin, and Balashisha Kharjahrin from South West Khasi Hills.

On the male front, the contestants hailing from various districts were Marlangki Siangshai from East Jaintia Hills, Nidawan Lyngdoh from Shillong, Modingstar Nongpoh from Ri Bhoi, Iaishah Shylla from West Jaintia Hills, Kalbin B. Marak from Williamnagar, and Arshadul Kharmawlong from South West Khasi Hills. Each participant showcased their athletic prowess and represented their districts with pride in the ongoing Meghalaya Games.

Looking ahead to Thursday’s events on the 4th day of the 5th Meghalaya Games, spectators are in for a treat with a lineup of high-intensity competitions, featuring the:

Men’s 10,000m Final
Women’s 3,000m Final
Javelin throw Final (Men and Women)
Men’s and Women’s 200m (Heats and Final)
4x400m Relay Final (Men and Women, including Heats)
Men’s and Women’s 200m and 800m Final
