Tura, Jan 19: In a major update, the organisers of the 5th Meghalaya Games have rescheduled the finals of the U18 Football Division to Friday evening at the P. A. Sangma Stadium, instead of the initially scheduled date of January 20.

The decision to advance the finals to Friday is due to logistical constraints, as the authorities will need to hand over the ground by 12 PM. on Saturday. Conducting two matches and a medal ceremony within the given timeframe was deemed challenging.

Originally, Friday was to see only the matches for the third place in both Girls and Boys football division. The Girls bronze medal match was at 12.30 PM and the Boy’s match will begin at 2.30 PM. In the Boys’ category, West Garo Hills will compete against East Khasi Hills for Bronze; whereas, in Girls’ category, South West Khasi Hills will take on Eastern West Khasi Hills.

The final of the U18 Girls will take place at 5 PM, followed by the Boys’ match at 7 PM.

In the Girls’ category, East Khasi Hills will lock horns with Ri Bhoi, while in the boy’s category, Ri Bhoi will take on West Jaiñtia Hills for the gold.
