SHILLONG, OCT 30: The Court of Soni DR Kharbteng, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Judicial), East Khasi Hills has convicted and sentenced one Bijoy Hajong to seven years simple imprisonment for his involvement in a rape case.
The case was registered under Mawlai PS Case No. 31(06)2009.
The judgment delivered on October 27 said that the accused will undergo simple imprisonment for 7 years and pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh. In default of payment, the accused will undergo an additional 4 months of imprisonment.
The case, which dates back to 2009, was investigated by Inspector SK Marak.
