Guwahati, May 2: Eight vultures and one kite were found dead in a field in Guimaria near Rani in the outskirts of Assam’s Guwahati on Wednesday.
According to reports, among the dead birds were two white-backed vultures, six Himalayan Griffons and one black kite.
The dead birds were recovered by the Vulture Conservation Breeding Centre at Rani near Guwahati.
Meanwhile, the officials have collected the samples for examinations.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the cause of death may be linked to the consumption of meat from poisoned animals.
Over 200 similar instances of dead vultures have been reported across different parts of South Kamrup.
