Shillong May 27: The 8th edition of Inter-School Knock out Football Tournament resumed on Friday after a Covid-19 pandemic induced gap of two years. The Inter School Football Tournament is being organized by the FKJGP, Mawlai Circle.

In the opening match, Pearly Dew Hr. Sec School, Jaiaw, beat St. Anne’s Higher Secondary School, Mawtawar, with the final scoreline of 5-1.

Fourteen schools are participating in this year’s football tournament from three localities – Mawlai, Mawkhar and Jaiaw.

The president of the federation, Khrawkupar Nongsiej, said that apart from becoming educationally strong the students also need physical fitness which is the main aim of the tournament.

Beltes Nongtnger (Jersey No. 7) of Pearly Dew School scored 3 goals while Pyndaplang Syiemlieh (Jersey No. 13) scored one goal, and 1 goal was an own goal.

For St Anne’s School, Kyrshan Khyriem scored the lone goal.
