Guwahati, May 21: Renowned composer A.R. Rahman premiered his latest music documentary, “Headhunting to Beatboxing,” at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, directed by Rohit Gupta, explores the transformative journey of the Naga tribe from Nagaland, showcasing their evolution from a history marked by violence to a vibrant cultural renaissance through music.
Rahman expressed his deep connection with India’s Northeast, and shared his admiration for the region, stating, “I have a special place for the Northeast in my heart. It has evolved in so many ways. I was invited to the Hornbill Festival, I was super inspired by the vibe, it was an inspiring place, and the world should get inspired.”
Rahman emphasized, “nothing can be taken for granted people are evolving. Music has a bigger story. It’s important not to lose integrity, and things will follow.”
“Headhunting to Beatboxing” captures the essence of the Naga tribe’s revival, illustrating how the community has found solace and identity through a musical renaissance.
